About me

My Philosophy

I believe that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" by the Creator, and that pregnancy is a  natural, normal state.

Childbirth is not a medical event, but a normal process, that should be supported by the family and the midwife, with the least amount of intervention possible.

I am greatful for my experience in both hospital and home birthing, as it has given me a balanced training and experience.  As I walk with you through your pregnancy & delivery, I will safeguard the normal process, but also be able to recognize when things have deviated from normal, and provide guidance, counsel and referral as needed.

"You were an amazing midwife; guiding me, holding me, re-assuring me and helping me progress.  I felt loved and protected."

My Story

I have been a midwife for over 30 years!

My story began at the birth of my first child.  I was living in Israel, and planned to have a homebirth.  After 3 days of labor, I had to go to the hospital for augmentation and eventually delivered by forceps.  This experience led me to want to become a Midwife myself; to learn more about the process of birthing, and to provide more options for pregnant women.

This lead us back to Oregon, where I gained Midwife experience through apprenticing with a homebirth midwife, and working as a labor & delivery nurse. I delivered my first baby in 1985 and continued with my own  homebirth practice for 12 years, both in Oregon and in Israel.  During that time, I also had 5 other children - all born at home with a Midwife (3 of which were waterbirths)!

In 1997, I had an opportunity to return to school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife.  I was excited to expand my scope of practice to include Gyn and Family Planning.  Since then I have delivered babies in numerous settings, including hospital and out of hospital practices.

In 2015, I fulfilled a dream of mine to open a Homebirth practice in SD.  Due to family & financial concerns, I had to close the practice in 2017,

BUT I AM HAPPY TO  ANNOUNCE THAT AS OF SEPT 2020, I AM BACK IN THE RAPID CITY AREA, ATTENDING HOMEBIRTHS.  I hope to hear from you soon??

"You made one of the most important experiences of our lives, a very remarkable, God centered, natural celebration, that we will remember all our lives!"
